About this centro
Templo del Camino de la Luz operates a working centro on the banks of the Nanay, an hour by boat from Iquitos. It hosts retreats of seven, fourteen, and twenty-eight days, structured around a master-plant diet (dieta) and a regular rhythm of ceremony with resident curanderos and visiting onanyas.
The centro maintains an ongoing program of support for the surrounding Shipibo community, including a fund that pays for the schooling of children of practicing onanyas. The lineage traces through the late maestra Olivia Arévalo and through the Pinedo family.
Application is required, with a medical questionnaire and SSRI/MAOI washout where applicable. The center publishes a current list of facilitators on its own site.
